Wood is a natural product. Wood can be unpredictable. We choose the best pieces we can find and inspect them for visible defects. We do not and can not see into the wood for internal defects. If you drop your clubs, they may brake. If you hit your clubs on a hard surface or hit them together, they may crack, dent or brake. If not properly cared for, wood will crack, warp or split over time. What are some of the other things that will cause wood to crack or some other adverse reaction? One is leaving them by a heat source like a fire place, heater or the like. Another is to leave them in the sun, rain or high humidity for a prolonged amount of time, then bring them into a dry or warm environment. Remember that trees react to the seasons and by putting them in an extreme condition, you are causing them to react to that condition. Here at Rosewater Kinetics we use only water based products. These products have sun filters and seal the exterior from moisture, however extreme conditions will effect the performance of those finishes.
